FAQ

what is coaching?

Coaching is a dynamic and future-looking collaboration aimed at guiding you to attain your personal and professional aspirations.  Throughout this process, we will explore your goals, challenges, and desired growth areas.  The core objective of coaching is to empower you to make positive and lasting changes to alleviate the stress associated with stagnation.  We focus on a proactive approach and commitment to continuous improvement.

how is coaching different from therapy?

Coaching is forward-based, action-oriented, and intended for individuals seeking guidance in achieving specific objectives, while therapy is often more reflective, delving into the past to address emotional and mental health.  Coaching can complement therapy and may be pursued concurrently.  It is important to choose an approach that aligns with your needs and goals.

What will we accomplish by working together?

Balance your energy to manage the effects of burnout in your relationships.

Enhance your understanding of relationship dynamics and take proactive steps to improve challenging connections by creating an environment that supports growth, or transition away from relationships that deplete you.

Self-discovery through self-reflection and strengthened self-awareness allowing you to explore your values, strengths, and potential obstacles or patterns that may be holding you back from greater fulfillment in your life and career.

Goal setting and action planning to help you define clear and achievable changes to make in your personal or professional relationships that will lead to expanded personal development, improvement in quality of relationships, and overall well-being.

Accountability in your relationships and career enabling you to recognize the possibilities available to you.

Skill development related to your goals such as improving communication and dispute resolution skills, time management skills, leadership skills, establishing healthy boundaries, and challenging unproductive thought patterns.

Motivation and confidence building by boosting your resilience through overcoming challenges and setbacks.

What will coaching with you be like?

Having navigated my own share of life’s challenges, I’ve sought support from therapists over the years and, more recently, added coaching to my always evolving personal development efforts.  I deeply understand the importance of connecting with someone who truly understands your unique journey.  In my experience, frustration often stemmed from investing time and emotional energy, only to find a lack of fundamental connection with the person I relied on to help me.

Our initial conversation comes with no charge to you.  It’s an opportunity for you to outline the challenges you would like support with, to get a feel for what working together would be like, and to ask any questions about a potential collaboration.  It’s also my chance to assess if I can genuinely assist you.  If I believe I can’t, or your situation falls outside of my expertise, I’ll be transparent and provide a referral from my network if possible.  I firmly believe in the importance of a good fit between coach and client.

Should we decide to work together, I don’t follow a one-size-fits-all approach.  Without understanding your unique circumstances, how could I craft an approach that will work for you before meeting you?  As we delve into the details of your situation, we’ll collaboratively devise actionable steps tailored to work towards your goals.  Depending on your situation, we might explore reading specific books, engaging with relevant podcasts, learning about different behavioral techniques, or practicing various writing techniques for exploration and processing.  To accommodate all lifestyles, all calls will be by cell.  I find that connecting outside of the virtual world provides a needed break from screen time while allowing us to each focus on the content of the conversation, limiting connectivity and visual distractors.

While I’ll share various tools, the decision to utilize those tools is completely up to you.  If you’re seeking a coach, you’re serious about your personal growth and development, and I’m here to support you on that journey.
